The Information and Communications Technology Society (ICTS) was originally established in 1994 as the Information Technology Professional Society or ITPS. Then, as now, we have sought to influence the level of professionalism in the field of information and communications technology in Trinidad and Tobago, acting as the guardian, so to speak, of the local ICT community. In this regard, we have sought to: • lend structure, accountability and a greater purpose to the ICT professional body at a national level • effect national change and development through the planned application of structured ICT in private and public sector-driven socio-economic initiatives. Over the past few years, our Society has been on an aggressive drive to build our advocacy role so as to enable a higher level of Industry representation and input at a national policy level. As part of this effort, we have sought membership with international ICT bodies such as the World Information Technology and Services Alliance, and continue to forge closer relationships with relevant Government Ministries and Agencies. Our supplementary objectives are to build and retain membership, conduct thought leadership sessions, work on providing accreditation for a suitable certification of ICT professionals in Trinidad and Tobago, and foster greater partnering in the local ICT Industry.
